Celebrity breakups dominated Hollywood news last year. For every Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, there were dozens of high-profile splits—including Swift and Joe Alwyn, Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny, Chris Appleton and Lukas Gage, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner. Though some were less shocking (and messy) than others, many of our favorite celebrities’ personal lives were unfortunately thrown for a loop—and it looks like much of the same is happening throughout 2024. Here, the biggest celebrity breakups of the year so far.

Just months after finally stepping into the spotlight together, Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum have broken up and called off their engagement, according to People magazine. The couple began dating about three years ago when Tatum, 44, was cast in 35-year-old Kravitz’s directorial debut (then called Pussy Island but eventually released as Blink Twice). The pair managed to keep their romance low-key for months but didn’t bother hiding it during promotion for the film over the summer. The duo publicly gushed about working with each other throughout the press push. No reason was given for the split, though Kravitz has been seen out and about solo in recent weeks without her engagement ring.

Oddly, the news came on the same day that pair had both been cast in the upcoming Cate Blanchett-led alien biker film Alpha Gang.

Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, has split from his girlfriend Lindsay Wallace after three years. British tabloid The Sun claims that the formal couple remains amicable. Exact reasons for their separation were not made public. The split was corroborated by People who publicized a statement from Phillips’ spokesperson, Gerard Franklin. He said the split is “a private matter.”

“They were friends before their relationship blossomed,” an insider told the outlet. “But Peter and Lindsay have gone their separate ways as the relationship simply ran its course.”

Phillips, 18th in line to throne, met Wallace first when they were children—Wallace was a classmate of Phillips’ sister, Zara Tindall—and later reconnected in 2019. They started dating shortly after in 2021. King Charles’s nephew was previously married to Autumn Kelly. That union produced two daughters: Savannah, 13, and Isla, 12. Phillips and Wallace do not share any children together.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher are divorcing after 14 years of marriage. The news, which the couple shared via joint Instagram statements, follows reports that Baron Cohen had met with Hollywood lawyers last year. Per Page Six, the pair filed for divorce in London, where they currently reside with their three children.

“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down,” the statement read, backdropped by a photo wearing matching tennis outfits. “In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”

The couple continued, “We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”

Baron Cohen and Fisher first met in during a 2002 event in Sydney, Australia (where Fisher grew up) and were engaged three years later. They share daughters Olive, 16, and Elula, 13, and son Montgomery, 9. Baron Cohen and Fisher, also an actor, tied the knot in 2010.

Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley are going their separate ways. In joint statements shared to their respective Instagram stories, the couple announced that they intend to divorce after five years of marriage.

“After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways,” the statement read. “We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition. Thank you.”

The musician and influencer share two daughters Kensli, 7, and Maril, 4. Chance, whose full name is Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, says he first met Corley in 2003 when he was 9-years-old. The couple began dating in 2013 and briefly separated three years later before tying the knot in 2019.

During his acceptance speech at the 2017 Grammy Awards, Chance honored his then-wife and eldest daughter. “I wanna thank God for my mother and my father who’ve supported me since I was young. For Kirsten and Kensli, for all of Chicago,” he said, adding “Independence means freedom— I do it with these folks right here. Glory be to God, I claim the victory in the name of the lord, let’s go!”

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied are officially divorced after 11 years of marriage. The news, confirmed by People, comes after months-long speculation that the actress and director had gone their separate ways. Per the outlet, Portman filed for separation in July 2023 with the divorce being finalized last month in France (the couple live there with their children Aleph, 12, and daughter Amalia, 7).

“It was initially really tough for [Portman], but her friends rallied around her and helped get her through the worst of it,” an insider told People, adding “Natalie is coming out of a really tough and painful year but she's come out the other side of it stronger and is finding joy in her family, friends and work.”

The couple’s divorce follows reports of an extramarital affair by Millepied that have been surfacing in the media since last summer. “Her biggest priority has been ensuring a smooth transition for her children,” the insider said of Portman. “She and Ben really love their kids and are equally focused on being the best co-parents they can be. Nothing is more important.”

Romeo Beckham and Mia Regan have officially gone their separate ways “after five years of love.” In joint Instagram statements, the athlete and model addressed the cause of their split and seem to be leaving things on good terms.

“Mooch and I have parted ways after 5 years of love,” the 21-year-old son of David and Victoria wrote. “We still have a lot of love and respect for each other, and still hold a strong friendship and always will.”

Regan echoed Beckham’s sentiment, saying “This is ro, we have grown up with each other since we were 16!! Love takes different forms & paths as you mature.”

Beckham and Regan first started dating in 2019 and made their first public appearance together two years later. The pair have stepped out to various red carpet and galas together over the years, and Regan seems to have formed a special bond with Victoria Beckham—the pair collaborated on a six piece collection for Posh’s eponymous label.

“Mia has always had a unique approach to fashion and styling,” the fashion designer told Vogue at the time. “I love that she’s fun and not afraid to try new things when it comes to her personal style, which is reflected in the capsule.”

Young love comes, young loves goes. Gen Z power couple Charli D’Amelio and Landon Barker have broken up after more than a year of dating. Barker shared the news via Instagram story on February 7th.

“Hey everyone, I would like to let you guys know that Charli and I are no longer together,” the 20-year-old son of Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler wrote. “We broke up to focus on ourselves. We are still friends and have so much love for each other.”

The singer explained that he was “incredibly grateful” for the time he spent with the TikToker. D’Amelio has yet to comment on the breakup.

D’Amelio and Barker began their relationship in the summer of 2022—just over a year later, Barker unveiled a tattoo of the 19-year-old TikToker’s eye on his arm. “My only thought was, ‘You have to tell my dad that you just got this.’ But my parents thought it was cool and so did his,” D’Amelio explained at the time.

Barry Keoghan and his longtime girlfriend Alyson Sandro have gone their separate ways. The Saltburn star appeared to confirm his split from Sandro, after the pair welcomed their first child in 2022, during a new interview with GQ.

The actor kept his comments on his ex brief, telling the publication that “She’s done a great job, and she’s an incredible mother.” Keoghan’s recent comments come after sources told The Sun that the pair had decided to split after the birth of their son Brando (named after the actor Marlon Brando).

“They’ve grown apart over recent months, and things have finally come to a head,” a source told the outlet in July 2023, claiming that Keoghan’s “partying caused arguments.”

Following his breakup from Sandro, Keoghan has been linked to singer Sabrina Carpenter in recent months after the pair were spotted together in December. Rumors that the pair would be making their couples debut at the Golden Globe Awards didn’t come to fruition, but insiders say that “Alyson and Barry still communicate for the sake of Brando, and he has been open about his new relationship.”

Sam Smith and Christian Cowan

Sam Smith and Christian Cowan have left their relationship in 2023. On January 2nd, news emerged that the singer and fashion designer have gone their separate ways after one year of dating. Per the Daily Mail, the split is amicable and Smith has already signed up for celebrity dating app, Raya.

“Sam and Christian decided to end their relationship before Christmas,” the source told the outlet. “They're still friends and will continue to support each other in their respective careers but for now they have separated,” adding that “Sam has signed back up to dating app Raya and is already connecting with new people. It's a new year and fresh start for them.”

The couple were first linked in January 2023 after Cowan designed costumes for Smith’s music video “I'm Not Here to Make Friends.” Smith attended Cowan’s New York Fashion Week show a month later and chaotically serenaded guests during the designer’s September presentation in Paris.
