A Look at Christian Dior After Raf Simons

by Joshua Woods

Dior-7489

Christian Dior is a house in transition. With Raf Simons‘ departure as creative director in October, it was up to studio directors Serge Ruffieux and Lucie Meier to deliver a fall collection. That they did so with grace and poise against the backdrop of incessant media speculation about Simons’ would-be successor (some say Hedi Slimane, others Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen) is a testament to their skill and also to the fabled atelier behind the storied French house. As one master tailor told filmmaker Frédéric Tcheng in Dior & I, “The designer may change at Dior, but one thing that never changes: the atelier.”
