Since the 1990s, legendary photographer Shoichi Aoki has documented the Tokyo scene for his magazine Fruits. For the debut issue of WYouth, he captured what Japan’s coolest friends are wearing now. Consider it a mini Fruits.

Jin: A Tigran Avetisyan tee, basketball pants, and Louis Vuitton boots.

Jin: We used to spend a lot of time around Shibuya, but these days we prefer going on drives and taking trips with friends.
How do you define your style?
Jin: It’s based on authentic and timeless pieces. Rather than relying on flashy items, I value expressing my individuality through clothes that naturally fit into everyday life.

Fuka: A long-sleeve bear T-shirt with boxer shorts, mixing cute and cool styles.

Fuka: I love places where I can enjoy lots of good food! I also work as a hairstylist in Shibuya, so I’m there all the time.

Fuka: Shibuya “Scramble” Crossing. It’s such an iconic place, and it’s often featured in anime.
How do you define your style?
Fuka: Chameleon.

What’s your favorite place to shop in Tokyo?
Serena: I always go to Daikanyama. The neighborhood is really quiet and cute.
Himi: I love shopping in Mercari.
How do you define your style?
Serena: I don’t think I have a fixed style—I’m always getting inspired by many things. But definitely, the things I like and will never change are red and bows.
Himi: My style is anything cute and funky.

Katherine: A Happy99 and Pinponpanpon collaboration T-shirt, Dr. Martens sandals, striped socks, and a heart-pattern skirt.
Tokyo-Chan: A babydoll dress that was too long, so I gathered it and sewed it myself.
What’s your favorite venue to perform at in Tokyo?
Domenatsu: Womb in Shibuya. They have a good sound system and riser.
You went on tour all summer. What was the highlight?
Katherine: Meeting lots of new people. Everyone talks to me a lot, which makes me so happy.

Yuka: My favorite colorful clothes from thrifting, and accessories handmade by friends.

Yuka: Inspired by the rainbow—the colors depend on my mood.
Kiko: I have two style personalities: One is a sexy, laid-back summer girl, and the other is a cunty Y2K office lady. I like wearing things that make me feel sexy but are still comfortable.

Yuka: Meet friends on the dance floor.
